Entrance Rules

Admissions are held from June to August every year. Students are advised to refer to notifications by MJPRU regarding the schedule of admissions.

When applying for admission to the Institute, each application should be accompanied by self-attested photostat copies of:

i. Provisional Certificate of having passed the examination and the marks obtained therein 
ii. Certificate of birth
iii. Certificate of Hindi examination passed
iv. Documentary proof of special categories vide column 8 of admission form 
v. In case of Grading System, key should be submitted along with mark sheet

If any false attestation/falsified records are detected, the student's admission will be cancelled. In addition, a criminal case under relevant section of IPC (viz. 470, 471, 474 IPC) will be instituted against her.

1.EX- STUDENTS

Candidates securing pass marks in Practicals but failing in theory can be enrolled as ex students of the college. These students will appear only in theory papers in the subsequent examination. Practical marks and internal assessment marks will remain the same.

The candidates who have not secured pass marks in practical papers may be allowed to rejoin the college, and shall have to put in fresh attendance for one year, both in theory and practical. They will also be required to reappear in all the papers of the examination i.e. theory as well as practicals. The facility of appearing in the supplementary examination will not be available to this category of students.

2. RESERVATION & CONCESSIONS

a)Reservation of Seats for Scheduled Caste/Tribe Candidates

Reservation of seats in admissions to various under-graduate and post-graduate courses, including the M.Phil. programme, shall be in the following manner:

i. 22½ % of the total numbers of seats is reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribes (15% for Scheduled Caste and 7½% for Scheduled Tribes, interchangeable, if necessary).
ii. It is a statutory obligation on the part of College to fill all seats reserved for Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe candidates.
iii. The College will not refuse admission to any SC/ST candidate on the basis of medium of instruction.
iv. Relaxation to the extent of 5% in the minimum marks will be given to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes to determine their eligibility and merit for admission to the course concerned.
v. In case, after giving 5% relaxation, the reserved seats still remain vacant, further relaxation would be given to the extent required in order to fill up all the reserved seats.(AC Resolution A88, 14.6.1983) (EC Resolution 157, 24121.2001).Eligibility in these cases is pass percentage.

The following are empowered to issue the certificate:

a) District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/ Addl. Deputy Commissioner/ Deputy Collector/ 1st class Stipendiary Magistrate/ City Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate/ Extra Assistant Commissioner.
b) Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Addl. Chief Presidency Magistrate/ presidency Magistrate.
c) Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
d) Sub- Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/ or his family normally resides.
e) Administrator/ Secretary to the Administrator/ Development Officer (Lakshadweep Islands).

Candidates must note that Certificate from any other person/ authority shall not be accepted in any case. If the candidate happens to belong to SC or ST, his/her caste/ tribe must be listed in the appropriate Govt. of India schedule. The Caste Certificate should clearly state: (a) Name of his/ her caste/ tribe (b) whether he/she belongs to SC or ST (c) District and the State or Union Territory of his/ her usual place of residence and (d) the appropriate Govt. of India schedule under which his/ her caste/ tribe is approved by it as SC or ST.

However, if an SC/ST candidate seeks admission under some other category (for example: PC/Employee Ward etc.) the candidate should satisfy the minimum eligibility requirement for that category.

Note: SC/ST students who get admission under open merit will not be included in the reserved quota i.e.22.5%.

Note: Candidates seeking admission under SC/ST/OBC category should have certificates in their own name only.

b)Reservation of Seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC)

i. 27% seats will be reserved for the candidates belonging to OBC.
ii. At the time of giving admission to an OBC candidate, the College will ensure that the caste is included in the Central List of OBC. The certificate must mention non-creamy layer status of the candidate.
iii. The OBC candidates will be given a relaxation of 10% in the minimum eligibility marks of the said course and in the admission entrance test 10% of the minimum eligibility marks prescribed for General Category candidates. 
iv. The Colleges will not refuse admission to any OBC candidate on the basis of medium of instruction. 
v. If the seats meant for OBC remain vacant after arriving the minimum eligibility, the same may be converted and filled up by other eligible candidates subject to approval from the University.

Note: The merit list for the general category seats will comprise of all the candidates in the order of merit. No one will be excluded from the same. In other words, it will also include SC / ST / OBC candidates, if they come in general merit. The candidate cannot be excluded from the general category merit list just because he belongs to SC/ST/OBC. Such a candidate is entitled to be considered under the general category, as well as under the reserved category.

Admission to open category seats will be strictly in the order of merit without excluding SC/ST/OBC candidates

c) Reservation of Seats for Persons with Disabilities (PwD)

Three percent, (3%) seats in all undergraduate and postgraduate institutions (including professional and technical institutions) will be reserved for candidates having minimum 40% disabilities.

d)Reservation for Armed Forces (CW)

  1. All candidates seeking admission to various undergraduate courses of MJPRU will have to register online as per schedule notified by the University.
  2. 5% of seats are reserved for candidates under CW categories course wise in all colleges.
  3. All the CW candidates have to upload the Educational Concession certificate in the enclosed format to be issued by any of the following authorities on the proper letter head.
    1. Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board, Delhi.
    2. Secretary, Rajya Zila Sainik Board.
    3. Officer-in-Charge, Record Office.
    4. 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate.
    5. Ministry of Home Affairs (For Police Personnel in receipt of Gallantry Awards)
  4. Admission may be offered to the Children/Widows of Officers and Men of the Armed Forces including Para-Military Personnel, in the following order of preference:
    1. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel killed in action;
    2. Wards of serving personnel /ex-servicemen disabled in action;
    3. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel who died in peace time with death attributable to military service;
    4. Wards of Defence personnel disabled in peace time with disability attributable to the military service; and
    5. Wards of serving Ex-servicemen personnel including personnel of police forces who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards;

Gallantry Awards include: Param Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal, Maha Vir Chakra,Kirti Chakra,Uttam Yudh Seva Medal,Vir Chakra,Shaurya Chakra, Yudh Seva Medal ,Sena, Nau Sena,- Vayusena Medal, Mention-in-Despatches, President's Police Medal for Gallantry, Police Medal for Gallantry.

The following is the schedule admission of Children/Widows of the Officers and Men of the Armed Forces including Para-Military Personnel, Killed/Disabled in action or those who died/were disabled on duty, Gallantry Awardees, for admission to Undergraduate Courses for the academic session 2016-2017:

e) Registration of Kashmiri Migrants

  1. All the Wards of Kashmiri Migrants who wish to be considered for admission to various undergraduate courses for university have to register online as per schedule notified by the University.
  2. Upto 5% seats are reserved course-wise in all Colleges for Wards of Kashmiri Migrants.
  3. All the Wards of Kashmiri Migrants will have to upload a certificate of registration as Kashmiri Migrants issued by Divisional Commissioner/ Relief Commissioner.
  4. A concession of maximum 10% in the last cut-off marks fixed for General category candidates shall be extended to the Kashmiri Migrants.
  5. Admission of Wards of Kashmiri Migrants will be based on cut-offs to be announced by the Colleges.
  6. (The candidates selected under special Scholarship Scheme for J&K will be admitted directly to colleges)

f) Reservation of Seats for Foreign Students

All foreign students, including those who have completed their schooling from an Indian Board may be treated as Foreign Students for the purpose of their registration / admission in various departments and Colleges of the University and they may be considered for admission under 5% quota prescribed for the foreign students.

g) Sports/ECA Persons

The existing provision of not more than 5% sports / ECA quota (subject- wise) be continued. The college will decide the actual number of seats to be filled on sports basis (not more than 5%) keeping in view the facilities available, requirement of the College and other relevant factors.

The guidelines for Admissions under sports / ECA categories will be carried in accordance with the guidelines notified by the University from time to time.

h) University Employees Quota

The eligible wards of Teaching and Non-teaching staff of Colleges/University of Delhi will be considered as per University rules.

i) Special Scholarship Scheme

The Special Scholarship Scheme of the Government of India for creation of 2 supernumerary seats for the students of Jammu and Kashmir shall be implemented for all regular three year undergraduate courses. Admission under this Scheme shall be made directly by the colleges concerned on the basis of the provisional Admission Slips issued by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) subject to verification of the required documents.

3. GAP YEAR

The University guidelines are followed with respect to gap year policy: Gap Year (s) would be no bar for purposes of admission to the undergraduate courses.

4. As per A.C. Resolution 40 dated 24/04/1997, no student of the University shall be permitted to pursue two degree courses simultaneously either from the University of Delhi or from other University except the part-time diplomas/ certificates of the University of Delhi.

Important

1. Candidates applying under reserved categories 1, 2 and 3 should get their original certificates verified by the competent authority as notified by the University of Delhi.
2. Disputes, if any arising out of or relating to any matter whatsoever, concerning the process of admission shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent court in Delhi only
